Jesus passed away peacefully in his home, with his beloved cat PNut by his side—a fitting reflection of the love he had for cats throughout his life. He left this world on a deeply meaningful day—his mother Carmen Estrada’s birthday—just ten months after the passing of his lifelong best friend, Cathy. It is said that a heart can only carry so much, and Jesus was filled with a lifetime of quiet love and loyalty.
Jesus, affectionately known as Chuito or Je, was a loving brother to five sisters and one brother, and a treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews. His lifelong best friend, Cathy, and her family—Margaret, Joann, and Lisa—embraced him as one of their own and remain a deeply cherished part of his life.
Jesus, a veteran, was known for his talent as a skilled handyman, always ready to lend a hand. A man of simple joys and meaningful traditions, Jesus found happiness in cycling, wandering through New York’s Museum of Natural History, treasure-hunting at the Aqueduct Flea Market, and playing paddleball on the courts. He loved gathering with family to play penny poker and other card games.
One of his favorite annual traditions was his “Christmas Ornaments in July” shopping trips to Manhattan—a reflection of his playful spirit and love for the little things that make life special.
Jesus had a passion for movies and took great pride in his massive DVD collection. He found endless joy in the humor of The Three Stooges and Bugs Bunny and was always ready to share a laugh. His personal style was unmistakable—crisp white shirts, Converse sneakers paired with ankle-high white socks, and, in the summer, his iconic blue speedo.
Though naturally quiet, Jesus had a special gift: when he spoke, he brought true joy. His humor was unexpected, and his timing was perfect, leaving those around him with unforgettable belly laughs.
Jesus, you are and will always be loved and dearly missed. We find comfort in imagining your journey onward —a peaceful bike ride to heaven, where your brother Noel, your life partner Cathy, and your mother Carmen await you with open arms, ready to watch movies, play poker, and enjoy all of your favorite mom’s cooking.
