He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Landon; daughter, Lisa Valentine (Fletcher); stepsons, Matthew Carter (Nicole) and Jason Carter (Lisa) and by Greg Syler (Iman); 10 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and brothers Malcolm (Mary Paige) and David..
He was a graduate of Forest Hill High School; attended the University of Florida; and, graduated from Birmingham Southern College.
Jay was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.
He was a member and past president of the West Palm Beach Kiwanis Club.
