KATHERINE E. HOLLENBECK "Katy" Katy Elaine Hollenbeck passed away peacefully at home and went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 7:14 AM. His calling to her was a Job well done by my good and faithful servant; enter into the Joy of the Lord. Katy was born July 10, 1932 in Middletown, OH. She moved to Florida in 1959 where she lived out her life. She worked for The Palm Beach County Tax Assessor's office for many years before meeting her late husband, James E. Hollenbeck, Jr. After a couple years of courtship she was blessed with the title of Mrs. Katy Hollenbeck. She then became a stay at home mom raising five children to which she was very proud of. Katy and Jim were married for 43 years. Then there was the home going of Jim February 14 of this year and we now know they are both together again walking the streets of Gold. Katy came from a family of eight brothers and sisters that lived in a small house in Middletown, OH where they learned to get by with what they had. With a strong Mother (whom they call "Mumma") they learned all her strong values they carried throughout their lives to make them better adults. Kathy, while raising children and being a wife to Jim, still found time for many activities in her life that also brought Joy to her. Just to mention a few, she started nursing school years back, she loved to make ceramic pottery and to sew. I think each of the family members may have 20 pillows apiece. Painting was also a hobby that gave her hours of peace as she put on canvas things she saw in her mind. Many of those paintings are in the kids houses today. The beach was also one of her favorite things to do with her Kids. Katy also loved to write music and sing. She worked at Saint Mary's and Good Samaritan hospitals as a nurse auxiliary volunteer. She also worked with the "Daughters of the King" at her church, doing bible studies and reaching out to those in need. She never met a stranger and was concerned about all those around her. She would love to mention Jesus to every one she came in contact with. Kathy, known as Mom, is survived by her children, Bob Morris (wife) Colleen, Sherry Raber, Steven Morris (wife) Marylou, Phil Morris (wife) Betty, Mark Hollenbeck, her 12 grandchildren and her 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 21, 2012 at St. Marks Episicoal Church, 10635 Burns Road, Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, West Palm Beach. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM on Saturday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Children's Home Society of Florida, 1545 Loxahatchee Dr., West Palm Beach, FL 33409 (561) 689-0549.
