Kristine “Kris” Joan Cocozzeli Rouse, a long-time resident of Palm Beach County, passed away peacefully on September 27th at the age of 55. She was surrounded by her loving family, friends and her faith in God. Kris was predeceased by her beloved mother, Sandra Cocozzelli. Kris is survived by her cherished family members, husband, Todd J Rouse, her son and daughter, Sebastian and Sophia Rouse, her father, Ferdinando Cocozzelli, her sister, Stephanie Rosenthal (Mitch), her brother, Fred Cocozzelli (Emily), her sister-in-law, Amy Mumma (Marc), her brother-in-law, Kevin Rouse (Debbie), her brother-in-law, Danny Rouse, her niece, Erin Huntley (Sean Rosenberg), her nephews, Kyle Huntley, Matt Rosenthal, Pompeo Cocozzelli, Sandro Cocozzelli, Nash and Parker Mumma and DJ Rouse, as well as her huge Italian family of adoring aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kris was born on July 24th 1967 on Long Island, New York. Her family moved to Hollywood, Florida, where she was raised, in 1973. She graduated from McArthur high school, received a degree in Orientation and Visual Disabilities from Florida State University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Florida International University. Kris developed a great passion and expertise in her specialized work with children with visual impairments and other special needs. She was extremely dedicated to her colleagues, students, and patients at the Child Development Center at St. Mary’s Medical Center, The Arc of Palm Beach County and the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. She was a devoted volunteer at Sacred Heart School and Parish as well as the neighborhoods of Parrot Cove and College Park.
Kris will always be remembered for her devotion to God, her unconditional love for her family and friends, her compassionate spirit in her community, her quite courage, and her positive outlook on life.
A viewing will take place on Monday, October 3rd, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 4th at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 410 North M. Street Lake Worth, 33460. Following the funeral service, a procession will travel to the Quattlebaum Funeral Home: 6411 Parker Ave., West Palm Beach 33405
Kris’ family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all of her relatives, friends, colleagues, client families and her team of doctors and nurses. We are eternally grateful for the outpouring of support, and love that has been offered to her and her family.
