METZGER, Mary E “Betty”, 83, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on March 21, 2018. Betty was born in Boston, MA and was one of five daughters of the late Alfred Lloyd and Catherine (Hickey) Lloyd. Betty was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and daughter, and a dear friend to many. Betty graduated from St. Joseph’s College in 1956. While attending college she met the love of her life, Joseph Metzger, who practiced law in Palm Beach County and throughout Florida for many decades. Betty and Joe enjoyed 36 years of marriage until his untimely passing in 1992. Together they raised their five children with love and devotion. Betty exhibited a quiet and unassuming demeanor, but possessed great internal strength. She seemingly effortlessly juggled the hectic school and athletic schedules of her five children, all the while quietly instilling in them her resolute work ethic and respect for others. After her children were grown, she enjoyed visiting them and traveling, particularly to Colorado, Ohio and New England. Betty was full of life and love and will be sorely and forever missed.
Betty is survived by her five beloved children, 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild: Kathy Goodhew (Ken) of Boulder, CO, and their children, Rebecca (husband, Andrew and son, Silas), Sarah and Laura; Anne Metzger (Dag Seymour) of Westminister, CO and their children, Erin and Megan; Elizabeth Metzger (Brad Larsen) of Stuart, FL and their children, Erik, Colin and Matthew; Joseph Metzger (Kari) of Tampa, FL and their children, Joseph, Julia and Victoria; and Thomas Metzger (Alison Day) of Columbus, OH and their children, Shelby, Ellia and Quinn.
