Born October 1, 1940 in Cambridge, MA to Lester and Lyda Rafuse, she spent her formative years as a “snow bird”, between New Hampshire and Miami Shores, Florida. Pat spent many summers working in the canteen in Mount Washington Hotel, as her father was a seasonal barber. She ultimately met and married her former husband, Jack Robinette (predeceased) at Miami Edison High School and they had four children. The beloved Jupiter Florida became their final destination for over 45 years.
Pat loved to garden and grew a large garden while living in Aiken, SC. The children helped her peel peaches (an all day event) that she canned and she then made everything you could think of with a peach. She also fulfilled her wish of owning horses and they later moved 3 horses, 3 dogs and a cat to Jupiter Farms in 1977. She enjoyed many trail rides and fellowship with neighbors of the Jupiter Horsemen’s Association.
Pat was a founding member of JT Brokers Group (1984 – 2008) and loved being a realtor. She worked primarily in Jupiter, Tequesta and Jupiter Farms when the roads were unpaved and many rode their horses to the beach. She was a true entrepreneur and investor in FL, SC, GA and NC. She loved her professions, but being a mother was always her top priority. She always said if she could have had a dozen children she would have! So, the next best thing was to be a Foster Mother and hosting foreign exchange students.
“I love the mountains - live by the ocean, which is great, but my heart belongs to the mountains and fall leaves.” When her children were young, she loaded them all in a small car and spent the summer at her parents Waynesville home. She later fulfilled her dream by building a home in Hendersonville, NC.
Pat is survived by her four children: Robin (Stephen) Wakefield (Okeechobee, FL), Denise Robinette (Village of North Palm Beach, FL), Pam (Daniel) Constantakos (Jupiter, FL), James (Patricia) Robinette (Jupiter, FL), nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and many others who considered her “My Other Mother”. All of her children lived in Jupiter and she enjoyed all the activities that came with being a Mother and Grandmother. She taught us all integrity, hard work and unconditional love by giving unwavering support, strength and protecting those she loved. She may have been small in stature – but she was undeniably strong in her convictions.
In her own words – “Raise your kids with love and understanding. Love comes first. Always forgive. Look in the mirror each morning and ask yourself ‘are you honest – do you love your family and do you forgive others for their mistakes.’ Love Makes The World Go Around.”
Pat has left a hole in our hearts and will be greatly missed, but remembered with many happy memories. She lived life her way, with passion and love for many.
