Paulina was born on June 6, 1938 in Cienfuegos, Cuba to the late Carmen and Gabriel Montalvo. She married her beloved husband Eusebio in Havana, Cuba in 1965. She had two Daughters, Niurka and Marlene.
In the 1980s, like many Cubans she began her journey to the United states by migrating to Spain with her youngest daughter Marlene. Within 5 years the family reunited and settled in West Palm Beach, Florida by 1986. She worked for the school board and retired in 2000.
Paulina’s beauty through her years is evident in all her pictures beginning with the ones as a little girl in Cuba. The innocence in her spirit and profound beauty in her smile glow as pure as her love for roses, orchids, and gardenias.
Paulina fiercely demonstrated her selfless love, devotion, and hard work. The way she represented herself as a parent would forever be the guiding principles of our family and will forever be the backbone of the Gonzalez, Chieffo, and Whitaker families.
She selflessly added wisdom and support without judgment or pressure. She loved to listen to music and dance with her loved ones. Her love for providing and cooking for her family began and ended with every family gathering and the day would not be complete until the last dish was cleaned and put away. As a mother, she was everything daughters needed to acclimate into a new country of customs and language. As a grandmother, she was everything needed to bridge the old ways of raising a family like a village and demonstrate the selfless examples of patience and love. To know Paulina is to know that beauty, compassion, and selfless love is rare.
To know Paulina is to know that no matter the trials, hardships, and grief, she was there with her sweet scent of safety, Godly wisdom, and endless optimism in her beautiful brown eyes. She was a rare soul that our family knows to cherish and live on with the stories of hardship and ultimately joy, and triumph.
Paulina is survived by her husband, Teotisto Eusebio Gonzalez. Her siblings, Ines Montalvo, Luisa Montalvo, Manolo Montalvo, Emilio Montalvo, Gladys Montalvo, Carmen Montalvo, and Ileana Montalvo. Along with her nieces and nephews. Her daughters Niurka Chieffo and Marlene Whitaker, son in law, Daniel Whitaker.
