Pedro “Pete” Hilario Gonzalez passed away on January 27, 2022 in his hometown of Lake Worth, FL where he has been a resident for over 55 years. Pete was born on January 14, 1940 in the small town of Linea, Cuba. He emigrated to the United States in 1963 with his wife, Luisa Mein (Lima) and his son, Peter. Pete, who was always committed to helping others began his career as a Radiology Technician at JFK memorial Hospital where he served as the Supervisor of the Radiology Dept. and remained a loyal employee for 30 years. Pete was a lover of animals and nature shows, always had little companions in his birds that he took care of for many years. Pete was also a true afficionado of the arts, especially music and dance. He was a pretty good Latin ballroom dancer in his day. Nicknamed “Cuban Pete” by his friends, he was a permanent fixture in Downtown Lake Worth. Pete is survived by his son, Peter A. Gonzalez of Tampa, FL, his daughter, Lisa E. Gonzalez Weidner (John D. Weidner) of Lake Worth, FL, his grandsons, Justin D. Weidner of Lake Worth, FL, Bryce A. Weidner of Lake Worth, FL and by the many special friends he spent so much time with on Lake Ave., Downtown Lake Worth including Igot’s, Dave’s Last Resort and Brogue’s. Pete’s life will be celebrated on February 10, 2022 beginning at 5:00pm at Igot’s in Downtown Lake Worth Beach. Please join us for “Fairwell Check Thursday”.
