Robert was born in West Palm Beach to Bob and Shirley Simpson on September 29th, 1950.
Robert grew up with his mother and brother, Ted, in El Paso, Texas, where he grew in stature, education, and love for Mexican cuisine. He graduated from UTEP with a degree in metallurgical engineering and went to work for Chicago Bridge and Iron Company.
Shortly after that, Robert met the love of his life Denice while in Louisiana for a temporary assignment. Robert and Denice were married in 1975 in Sulphur, Louisiana. Together, they raised their three children, Bobby, Sarah, and Kaila. Robert always kept the family on the move, exploring new opportunities and adventures along the way.
Fate brought the family back to South Florida in 1997 when Robert and his brother Mark took the reins at the family business. Robert’s background in engineering brought a different approach in the car business, and the dealership grew. Returning to Florida also brought deeper relationships with his “Florida Family.” Family was always one of the driving forces behind Robert’s life, and the opportunity to blend his work family with his immediate and extended family was something that he truly cherished.
While thriving in his career in the car business, he also dedicated time to faith-based volunteering opportunities such as serving on the boards of Palm Beach Atlantic University, Urban Youth Impact, and First Care, as well as many volunteer roles at Christ Fellowship.
Above all, Robert was a true Christian man who loved the Lord, his church, and people. He was fast friends with everyone he met, and had an effect on people just by being around them. He could truly light up a room, make everyone laugh, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Robert Simpson and Shirley Milliken, and stepmother Eloise Simpson. He was survived by his wife, Denice (Farnum) Simpson, children: Robert and wife Tatum, Sarah Patterson and husband Tim, and Kaila Jacoby and husband David; and brothers: Ted Milliken and wife Georgianne, David Simpson and wife Tammy, Mark Simpson and wife Lisa, and Paul Simpson and wife Sandee. He was also blessed to be “Papa” to his 5 grandchildren: Walker, Olivia, CJ, Desmond, and Felix.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 8th at Christ Fellowship Church in Royal Palm, followed by a reception at the home of Chuck and Diane Hanlon. There will be a private interment service for the family Friday morning.
In lieu of flowers, Robert would have loved to have contributions made to one of his dearest causes:
