1930-2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andy at Hollyburn House Care Centre on April 1st, 2019, aged 88. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Betty, he is lovingly remembered by his daughter Jill, son-in-law Terry, grandchildren Michelle and Stephen, granddaughter-in-law Naomi and 2 great-grandchildren.
Born in England, Andy grew up through the Second World War period before joining the Royal Army Medical Corps at the age of 18. Following his marriage, he and his family joined other extended family members in emigrating to New Zealand, establishing a new home on the other side of the world. During a career in the retail sector, Andy travelled extensively within New Zealand and Australia, ultimately working in management within New Zealand’s largest department store chain. After retirement, Andy again moved across the world, this time to Canada where he re-joined family and began pursuing his passion of stamp collecting full-time. A keen member of the West Vancouver and Lynn Valley Stamp Clubs, he established many friendships and enjoyed helping others learn about their collections.
Despite suffering several medical problems later in life, Andy was always positive and greatly enjoyed his life and the company of his family and friends.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the wonderful staff of the Care Centre at Hollyburn House. Their care, good humour and kindness helped so much and they were very supportive of our family members also.
