Daphne Devine Read (nee Reuben) died peacefully at 5 am on June 25th 2014 after a second battle with cancer. She was 80 years old. Born in London on March 15, 1934, she was raised in Brighton, England where she met and married her husband, Norman. Daphne was kind, wise, had a good sense of humour, a lovely smile and a fabulous sense of style; she was also a wonderful wife and mother. She and Norman were married for 57 years and raised three children together. She will be profoundly missed by Norman; their children, Martin, Simon and Jennifer; her sister, Patricia; brother, Harvey; her grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. No doubt she is enjoying a coffee and a cigarette at a heavenly coffee shop.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver on Friday July 4 at 3pm. No flowers please but donations to the North Shore Hospice or a cancer charity would be appreciated.
