

Dianne was born on November 10, 1943, in Hexham, Northumberland, England, to Edward Ratter and Betty (Little) Carmichael. She spent part of her childhood in Venezuela before completing her education in the United States and England, where she studied industrial design.
She began her career designing interiors for British Rail and later worked in furniture and interior design in London. Design remained a defining part of her life, reflected in her natural sense of style, creativity, and appreciation for beauty.
Dianne later lived in Connecticut before settling in West Vancouver, where she devoted herself to raising her family and creating a warm and welcoming home. She built a wide circle of friendships and was known for her ability to bring people together with ease and grace.
She will be remembered for her elegance, kindness, and unmistakable sense of style. She carried herself with quiet confidence, warmth, and intelligence, and had a thoughtful and generous nature. She took great pride in her family and created a life filled with care, beauty, and connection. A lifelong animal lover, she held a deep affection for pets, which were always an important part of her life.
In her later years, Dianne spent time between West Vancouver and Whistler, continuing to enjoy time with family, friends, and her many interests.
Dianne was predeceased by her parents, Edward Ratter and Betty Carmichael, and her sister, Patricia Wilsdon.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Alexandra Woodyer Sherron, and Alexandra’s husband, Jon Sherron; her son, Charles Woodyer, and his partner, Kelsie Stret; her nephew and godson, Giles Woodyer; her niece, Tiffany Woodyer; extended family; and dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on May 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Francis-in-the-Wood Church, 4773 South Piccadilly Road, West Vancouver, followed by a gathering at the Red Lion Pub in Dundrave beginning at 3:00p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dianne’s memory may be made to the West Vancouver SPCA or WAGS Whistler.
Dianne will be remembered for the warmth, grace, and quiet generosity she brought to those around her, and for the lasting impression she left on all who knew her.
