Elisabeth Rosa Verpoorten (née Vandeweeghde), age 97 years, passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver B.C. on June 20, 2026. She is lovingly remembered by her children Linda and Corinne (Eric), as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Elisabeth was predeceased by her loving husband Eugene.
Elisabeth led a long and fulfilling life, travelling the world and making many friends along the way. Yet with all her travels, she never let the miles prevent her from staying in close touch with her extended family and everyone who was important to her. All the relatives in Belgium knew and loved “Tante Elly”, and looked forward to her frequent visits.
In keeping with her wishes, no formal service was held. Instead, a private gathering to celebrate her life was held on June 27, 2026.
She will be missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
