Gary Myron Harasym

Passed peacefully at age 77 in West Vancouver, BC. The beloved husband of Cathy (Catherine Lawson) and father of their beloved son David William who predeceased them. The first child of William and Viola Harasym, he leaves behind Harasym siblings Peter (Linda McLaughlin), Lotta (Bruce McDonald) and Willa (Paul Geddes); sister-in-law Anne Lawson; and nephews Chris (great-nephew Hunter), Peter and Steven, and niece Tina.

Born in Winnipeg, Gary spent his formative years in Ottawa. A graduate of Carleton University there, he later earned an LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, the city where he practised law for the remainder of his career.

Avid at sports, Gary skied, biked, and played golf, tennis and hockey. It was through his professional career and his sports that he developed lifelong friendships with many.

Gary was known for his intelligence, integrity, kindness and wit. He will be deeply missed by his family and his many friends.

Cathy and family extend their heartfelt thanks to Gary’s special caregivers: Will, Jeal and Tertia.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Thursday August 21, 2025 from 1 to 4pm at Hollyburn Country Club, West Vancouver. For those who wish, a donation in his memory may be made to the Parkinson Society British Columbia.
