Gemma, sweet sweet girl, you always were such a shining light.  I am so very sorry to hear of your passing and wish you nothing but love and blessings on your continued journey.  So much love to you, Val, Sam and Ian.

I met Gemma in childrens hopsital when we were teenagers, in a scary time, Gemma always lifted my spirits, encouraged me, made me laugh. We then went to highschool together where she was loved by everyone, I was so proud to have previously known her, a natural in the theatre and an academic, I always wondered how she could do it all, and more, an eternal inspiration to myself and my friends! After graduation, we again found each other in 4 NW at St. Paul’s, I was astounded by Gemma’s positive outlook, her ability to be so strong, no matter what. 
Gemma is an absolute light, a genuine, kind and highly intelligent person- who didnt have cruel bone in her body. Gemma was giving, thoughtful, compassionate and always lifted up those around her. She was a dear friend of mine, and I am so very lucky to have known her. The way Gemma left everyone, every stranger, every teacher, friend and classmate feeling  , was that of unconditional love and acceptance. I miss you Gemma, you have helped me more than you’ll know, you’re a true friend, gone too soon. I will continue to be strong, to make you proud. Xo

Dear Gemma,

As your 28th Birthday approaches, I am acutely aware of all that could have been, but mostly of all that has been.  You, Gemma, you have been.  And you have left such an  indelible impact on a multitude of people and on this earth, just by being who you are. (I'm trying to use a variety of words because I know how much you loved words and how much you loved playing with words, and yes, unlike you for whom words came easily, I am using a thesaurus-never dared to be used during a game of scrabble!) You had an uncanny ability to hone into a person's emotions and sensitivities and instinctively know how to connect in a meaningful way.  I believe you were able to integrate this innate talent into our Earth as well, with flowers, plants, berries, vegetables and trees, and recreate that connection in your gifted artwork.  Even into our airways with your perfect pitch sublime voice, bursting forth into spontaneous song when the spirit moved you. (How did you do that?)
I miss you Gemma (no thesaurus needed for that).  I miss the twinkle in your eye, your smile that was simultaneously mischievous and caring, your creativity, your passion for everything and everyone and your  far reaching, entertaining tales.   I miss how you got excited and made ordinary things into fun loving activities and adventures,  because that's how you saw the world.  I miss discussing interesting topics with you.  I miss hearing about your dreams for your future.  Mostly, I miss you.

Some things I will never forget: your smile, the way your eyes lit up. Laying on the trampoline watching the clouds go by. You’d get annoyed with me for just wanting to play GameCube or N64 with Ian but you’d always forgive me by the next day heh. 
I wish I had reconnected with you all those times I have thought of you over the years. I miss you.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to you. Gemma was a great source of kindness to me when I felt like the rest of the world wasn’t, and I am eternally grateful and honoured to have known her. You are such a beautiful, loving, and supportive family and my heart aches to imagine what you must be going through at this time.

Missing you Gem ❤️.  I miss your passionate, creative, quirky personality that always allowed us to have so much fun together. I’m going to miss our years of cabin adventures of biking, baking, picking berries and all the singing we could imagine. I’ll always remember that birthday of mine where we dressed up and you created a whole treasure hunt for us. What a fun day. Can’t believe that’s over. We will always remember you and love you, and I know you’re watching over us with that sparkle in your eye. 💕

Gemma, pancakes, toads in a blanket, and boiling hot coffee in bed just the way I liked it.  You always knew , what a memory  you had  for each and everyone of us.  I dont know how you did it,  The effervescent smile  you brought with you was like a ray of sunshine  and I shall never forget our amazing  happy conversations.  because of you I will now make a point to carry on these similar conversations with my estranged daughter.  God has taken you to soon, but I am sure he has his reasons.  I hope  when I reach heaven you will do me the honor of allowing me to serve you breakfast.
