MORRISS, Ian Charles Ian was born in Victoria, BC on April 5, 1944 and passed away in South Surrey, BC on February 20, 2011. Having survived a bout with cancer twelve years ago, and having lived each moment to the fullest since, Ian lost his newest battle with cancer after a vigorous and courageous two years. Ian is survived by his loving and devoted wife Gail, brother Earle (Jackie), brother-in-law Mark, godmother Dorothy, daughters Deborah (Grant) and Cara (Thomas J.), son Michael (Shawna), step-children Bradley (Rose) and Christina, grandchildren Gabriela, Teo, Mae and Molly and his many nieces and nephews. Ian was predeceased by his parents Frank and Ruth, sister Gloria and nephew Ron. Ian was the president of Western Equipment Ltd. Along with his brother and dear friend Earle, whom he always looked up to, Ian ran Western with both business savvy and a kindly concern for its staff. Ian was proud to have managed the business his father co-founded in 1947 and in recent years, very proud of the third generation of Morrisses now carrying on in the family tradition. Ian will be remembered for his beautiful smile and mischievous sense of humour, his generous nature and above all, his unfailing love for his family. To know Ian was to love him. Ian and Gail respected each other greatly and loved each other completely. Together, they raised their blended family with love, commitment and the occasional hairy moment. Ian's immediate and extended family have always been incredibly supportive and devoted to each other. Ian and Gail have also been blessed with friends who have provided many good memories and outstanding support throughout the difficult times. A Celebration of Ian's life will be held on Saturday, February 26 at 10:30 am at the Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver. It will be followed by tea. Afterwards, a private interment will be held for Ian's extended family at the Surrey Centre Cemetery. It was Ian's wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or Peace Arch Hospital. Our thanks to the dedicated and compassionate staff at VGH, the BC Cancer Agency and the Peace Arch Hospital. Ian will remain in our hearts forever.
