1929 – 2025
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann Falcon. Born in Edmonton, Alberta she was raised alongside her two siblings Ron and Eleanor by her single mother, Eleanor (Happy) LaFleche during the Great Depression. The hardships of those times left lasting memories, shaping her resilience and strength. Together with her late husband Brian she successfully raised six boys, Michael, Dan, Larry, Kevin, David and Greg (predeceased). Throughout the years, the most common remark we heard was “your poor Mom” and we wholeheartedly agreed! Despite on and off family financial challenges, she managed to create a loving home, often using her creativity to provide for us. Our Mom was an extraordinary woman who combined love and discipline in equal measure - a necessity with a house full of boys. Her kindness endeared her to our friends, girlfriends and later our spouses. As a young woman she became a stewardess during the early days of commercial flight, meeting fascinating individuals as varied as Albert Einstein and Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent. Later, she pursued a career as a Registered Nurse, dedicating decades of work at St. Paul’s Hospital. A devout Catholic, she exemplified tolerance and understanding, setting a high standard for others. Despite the heartache of losing her son Greg in a horseback riding accident, she maintained a positive outlook and continued to selflessly care for her aging Mother and later, her husband Brian through his degenerative illness. Additionally she cared for her brother Ron and niece Miranda Hullah through their respective terminal illnesses. At age 95 she remained vibrant and medication-free, enjoying her daily walks on the West Van seawall, until her final months of life. In addition to her five remaining sons, Jackie is survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A Catholic Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be held on January 28th at 11:00am at St. Anthony’s Parish at 2347 Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver, BC. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation.
