Joan was predeceased by her husband Rick, dad Pat McCann and mother Kay McCann and sister-in-law Sue Taylor.
Joan was born in Vancouver but lived her entire life in North Vancouver where she loved the mountains.
She was very actively involved with the Weaving & Spinning Groups and did a lot of knitting. She could do any pattern and loved all colours of yarn she collected from around the world.
How Joan loved to travel! She travelled on many cruises, travelled to Europe a few times, Greece, Mexico, Caribbean and Australia but Hawaii was her favourite. She also travelled to Beachwood Resort with our cousins for weeks.
She absolutely loved talking about family history and could date back many years by telling stories. She could also date back years on stories of Vancouver, her favourite topic as well.
Joan will be sadly missed by her sister Ann (Bill), nephews Victor, Heath (Davellyn) nieces, Devin, Ripley, who all called her by her nickname “AJ” which she loved, her brother-in-law Gil Taylor, brother-in-law Russ (Elaine), sister-in-law Anne Taylor, niece Michelle (Brian) and Emily, nieces Morgan and Kelly. Many cousins are in our family as well. Many travelling buddies: Vic (deceased) Yvonne, Debbie & Laurie, Dan and Phyllis, Marion, Diane, Jude, Chris and Anne. Joan had many friends, unfortunately too long a list to mention names.
Our Family would like to thank the Lynn Valley Care Home for the wonderful care she received. We know they all loved to talk to her about all topics of conversation.
And a huge thank you to her neighbours Rob and Jennifer for all your help over the years. You two have been such a blessing in our lives.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in Early May 2026, with an announcement.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Cancer Foundation or the charity of your choice.
