He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jill and is survived by his four daughters, Jane (Dave), Sara, Susan (Kevin), Kathryn (Roy), his eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Ken was born in Fulham, England and grew up in Harmondsworth with his parents and treasured siblings, sister Barbara and twin brothers Dave and Brian. From an early age Ken was extremely active playing every sport under the sun: football, cricket, tennis, fieldhockey, gymnastics, swimming, and golf. A highlight was playing in Junior Wimbledon with his sister. Ken’s active lifestyle continued to the age of 97 with his regular attendance at workout classes at the West Vancouver Seniors’ Activity Centre. Ken served in the British army at the end of WW2 and was deployed with the peacekeeping forces in Egypt. On his return he met Jill at the Hounslow Cricket and Sports Club where they were introduced as tennis partners – and they remained partners for over 70 years. Ken went on to study metallurgical engineering at the University of London and after immigrating to Canada in 1957, Ken and Jill finally settled in North Vancouver in 1971 with their four daughters. Ken became a stalwart in the St. Clement’s, North Vancouver and Lynn Valley community.
A Service of Thanksgiving will be held at St. Clement’s Anglican Church (3400 Institute Rd, North Vancouver) on Saturday May 3rd at 1:00 pm to celebrate Ken’s long life, lived in the service of God, his family, and the wider community.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the West Vancouver Foundation, Seniors’ Activity Centre Legacy Fund will be gratefully accepted.
