Lillian Verna Berkey

Verna was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and moved to British Columbia in her early twenties, where she built a life rich in family, friendship, and a wide variety of interests.

She will be remembered for her sharp mind, intellectual curiosity, and lifelong love of reading. An avid follower of the stock market and real estate, she enjoyed keeping abreast

of market trends and discussing current events. Her curiosity about the world extended beyond books and investing. She loved to travel with family and friends, creating treasured

memories during many visits to Hawaii, Japan, and Palm Desert. Along the way, she collected photographs and keepsakes that reflected both the places she explored and the

experiences she cherished.

At home, Verna enjoyed watching a wide variety of sports on television. Her interests were broad, and she remained engaged with the world around her throughout her life.

Although her later years were marked by chronic illness and debilitating pain, Verna faced these challenges with remarkable strength, dignity, and resilience. She found great

comfort in the love and support of her family and those closest to her.

Verna was predeceased in 2023 by her loving husband of 67 years, Don Berkey. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Peggy (Ian), and by the family of whom she was

immensely proud: her daughter, Leslie (Richard), and grandchildren Cameron and Jamie; her daughter, Robin (Darrell), and grandchildren Taylor (Alex), Sean, and Mitchell;

and her great-grandsons, Beau and Ryland.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers and healthcare professionals whose compassion, kindness, and dedicated care brought comfort to Verna throughout her final years.

Verna will be remembered for her intelligence, independence, warmth, and enduring love for her family. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A private family celebration of Verna's life will be held this summer.
