

2021, at Sunrise of Lynn Valley in North Vancouver. She was born in Carracastle, Co.
Roscommon, Ireland, and was one of nine children. She studied Nursing at the Mater
Misericordiae University Hospital, in Dublin, Ireland where she met the love of her life
Dr. Timothy V. Corcoran. She married Timothy in Dublin, Ireland.
The two set out on their new life together as doctor and nurse, husband and wife, and
emigrated to Canada in 1955. They first arrived in Newfoundland, Canada where they
worked together and discovered the fierce winters of Canada. They later moved to the
town of Fox Valley Saskatchewan and ran one the first clinics under
Saskatchewan's universal healthcare pilot program: a program that was adopted later
nationwide in later years.
Mary and Timothy moved to Calgary, Alberta. Timothy worked for Veterans Affairs
Canada and, they had two children: Timothy John Corcoran and Louise Ann Corcoran.
Mary devoted her time to stay home and care for her children and had many close
friends in Calgary, Alberta.
In 1980, Mary and Timothy moved to Victoria, B.C. to work for Veterans Affairs and the
family continued to grow up on Vancouver Island. Sadly, Mary’s husband died suddenly
in 1990 and she continued to live on the island, before moving to North Vancouver to be
close to her daughter and family.
Mary is survived by her son Timothy J. Corcoran of Calgary, Alberta and his wife Larissa
Silkin, her daughter Louise Ann Corcoran and her husband Kevin Collier and all five of
her grandchildren, Maeve and Ava ,Catherine, Declan and Fiona .
Funeral mass will be held at St. Antony’s Parish, West Vancouver on March 12, 2021 at
1:00 p.m. and she will be laid to rest beside her husband Tim in Victoria, BC at Hatley
Memorial Gardens.
