Born June 28, 1927 in Louisville, CO, in the foothills of the Rockies. A graduate of Louisville High School, she later obtained her RN Degree through St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver. Gloria's nursing career centered in the operating room. "Glo" was especially fond of teaching and earned her Bachelor's Degree in education. She had many stories of her exploits as a student, nurse and days in the operating room.
She met her husband, Paul E. Gammage in Colorado, a native of Westlake, while he was in the U.S. Air Force. They had four children and moved frequently before settling in Westlake in 1984. Glo was an avid poker player, bowler and golfer, once scoring a hole in one. She was a strong willed Italian with a sweet smile and a warm spirit that she instilled upon her family.
She is survived by her son, Harvey Gammage; daughters, Jackie Betts and Jennifer Oxley as well as her five grandchildren, Dominic Nila Maxwell, Rachael Maxwell, Kyle Gammage, Amber Oxley and Michael Oxley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Gammage and daughter Marilyn Maxwell.
Her Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
