Jack A. Powers, age 93, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 6, 2018. He was at home surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born on October 21, 1924, in Glenmora, La. He proudly served in the United States Air Force.
Jack retired from Cit-Con Oil Co. as an area Supervisor. He was an active member of Gateway Church of God serving in many capacities. He loved being with family and friends. He especially enjoyed his church family where he and Geneva headed up the Meals on Wheels for the elderly.
He enjoyed fishing, cutting grass on his tractor and lawn mowers, coaching his four sons in little league baseball and following his sons and grandsons in their athletic endeavors. He and Geneva also enjoyed their trips to Alaska where they experienced commercial salmon fishing with their sons.
He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Gregory Powers and Jerod Powers, parents, Franklin A. Powers and Bertha Henry Powers, and sisters, "Elaine Romanski, Barbara Welch, and Billie Shirley.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are his adoring wife of 71 years, Geneva Powers; four sons, Mike Powers, Steve Powers and wife, Donna, Mark Powers and wife, Sandra, and Paul Powers; seven grandchildren, Michelle Powers, Jonathon Powers and wife, Andrea, Jay Powers and wife, Paige, Noa Powers, Karisa Powers Haydon and husband, Rhys, Jamie Powers Sutherland and husband, Shannon, and Taylor Powers and wife, Jessica, thirteen great-grandchildren, Michael, Jonathon, Tiffany, Stormy, Tripp and wife, Ashley, Abbey and husband, Jeremy, Karlie, Katie, Kelsie, Sebastian, Caden, Rylee, and Chaise; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 until service time Sunday at Gateway Church of God in Moss Bluff, La. Service will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. Rev. Richard Rials and Bro.
