Jimmy Leon Edwards Sr.

The going home celebration for Jimmy, will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Westlake Hixson's Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. Kelly Vigo. Visitation will begin at 3:00 until time of service.

Jimmy received his reward of eternal life Sunday while in Houston, TX at St Luke's Hospital. He was born in Longville, La, to John B. Edwards and Azalie Cooley Edwards, who preceded him in death, along with 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and son Frank Edwards. Jimmy leaves behind his wife and best friend of 36 1/2 years, Cheryll Perkins Edwards, and his loving fur baby, Pugsey Marie. Jimmy grew up in Westlake, LA.

His intense work ethic and focus were central to a successful 50 year career as a master mason and contractor. He was a man of great passion and simple honest values. He loved to hunt, being outdoors, exploring any mountain, gardening, canning, cooking, time with his kids, grandkids and great friends. His candy at Christmas was expected by many.

His memories will be cherished by 5 wonderful children, Jimmy Edwards Jr, Vickie Ross and husband Russell, Kevin Perkins and wife Deanna, Keith Perkins and wife Neali, Kristen Thompson and husband Jim, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends and neighbors.
