

She was born June 19, 1944 in Calcasieu Parish. She was a lifelong resident of Westlake and Moss Bluff, LA and was a 1962 graduate of Westlake High School. After graduation, she worked for Bell South Telephone Company, and later became owner of Joy’s Boutique in Moss Bluff, LA after which she devoted her time completely to her family. She was so proud of all of her grandchildren and enjoyed working with them side by side around the house and in the yard. Friends and family will remember her as a loving and patient wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed as we keep her memory close to our hearts and let her go to God, her heavenly Father.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ruben Dewey Spell, Jr., who together, enjoyed a good journey which began in Ventura, CA in 1968 and lasted 47 years. She is also survived by her loving children: son, Shannon Spell and his wife Nicole; daughter, Sabrina Hancock and her husband Marshall; two step-children, Gwen Ashworth and her husband Clay; Brett Spell and his wife Shari; eight grandchildren, Gage, Gabriel, and Makenna Spell; Tera, Hunter, Kira, Logan and Nathan Hancock; four step-grandchildren Jordan and Jacob Ashworth; Ashley and Caitlyn Spell. She is also survived by her mother, Aileen Colosky; two brothers, Steven Colosky and his wife Carolyn; Michael Colosky and his wife Charlotte; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Steven Colosky, Sr., grandparents Ann and Dalton Wing and Albert and Stella Colosky, her mother and father-in-law, Genevieve and R. D. Spell, her sisters-in-law Carolyn Spell Gilley and Jeannette Brady.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Hixon Funeral Home, Westlake, LA from 4-8 P.M. and will resume Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 9 A.M. until time of service at 11.A.M. The Rev. Betty Northern, pastor of Westlake United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Westlake, LA. Funeral Arrangement entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home, Westlake, LA.
