

He was a member of the IBEW for 45 years. He was president for 23 years and head of the apprenticeship program for 18 years. Rodney was committed to IBEW apprenticeship. He loved training young men and women to be electricians and he felt it was an honor to work with them. He was proud of what they accomplished in their trade and in their lives. He treated most of them like his own children. Rodney served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam ('62-65), suffering a life threatening injury while there but rehabilitated at Fort Sam Houston, TX. He coached pee-wee football in Westlake for 15 years. He also mentored and supported Basile athletics especially the high school girls basketball. His enduring resolve was the steadfastness of his love for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Comeaux Duhon of Basile and ex-wife and friend, Carolyn Duhon of Moss Bluff; one son, Rodney R. Duhon Jr. and wife, Jessica of Lake Charles; two daughters, Stacy Duhon of Seattle, WA and Shelly Monroe and husband, Mark of Dallas, TX; two step-daughters, Jodi Comeaux of Iota, LA and Kellie Comeaux of Breaux Bridge, LA; one step-son, Clint Comeaux and wife, Brandy of Moss Bluff; five brothers, Larry Duhon of Americus, GA, Dwayne Duhon of Nashville, TN, James and Harlan Duhon both of Westlake, LA, and Glenn Duhon of Moss Bluff; one half-brother, Edgar Landry of Orange, TX; three sisters, Elizabeth Watts of Weatherford, TX, Flora Dixon of Westlake, LA and Lena Self of Lake Charles and five grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Edwin (Cecelia) Duhon Sr. two brothers Gerald Nathan Duhon and Edwin Duhon Jr. and two of his children, Sharon and Michael Duhon.
Respect can be made in two locations, one to accommodate his Basile Community and one to accommodate his Westlake Community. Everyone is invited to attend both events however no one is obligated or expected to attend both.
A Remembrance service with a mass will be 3pm Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in St Augustine Catholic Church of Basile with a rosary at 2pm. The Rev. David Hebert will officiate.
A Memorial service will be 11am Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Visitation will be from 6-9pm Tuesday at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake with a rosary at 7:30pm. Visitation will resume Wednesday 8am until time of service. Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery, Edgerly, LA. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at wwwhixsonfuneralhomes.com.
