

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He retired as an operator from Olin after 38 years of service. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Westlake for 45 years. He was an artist and a musician and could play several instruments. He played music for the elderly at various nursing homes. He had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Delores K. Fontenot of Westlake; son, Larry W. Fontenot and wife Carolyn of Moss Bluff; daughter, Naomi D. Liford and husband Jack of Arlington, Texas; step-daughters, Rhonda Sue Frederickson of Houston, Texas, Ashley L. Skillern and husband Michael of Houston, Texas, and Valerie Mae Wideman and husband Clarke of Westlake; step-son, Joseph Lee Smith III of Sulphur; brother, Coolidge Fontenot and wife Eunice of Lake Charles; sister, Jane Foreman and husband Wilford of Alvin, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Opal Jackson Fontenot; parents, Alcee and Exelia Fontenot; sisters, Vergie Schmitz and Effie Fletcher; and brother, Clifton Fontenot.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at First Pentecostal Church of Westlake. Rev. Mark Stanton will officiate with words by Rev. Glenn Massey. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow at Westlake Memorial Park.
