It was an incredible shock to us all that someone like Doina could fall victim to a heart attack - the number one killer of women over 50 - she was not sick, she was never hospitalized and she never complained of typical symptoms of heart disease.  I saw her on a Saturday.  She was her typical self.  She embraced her grandson and told me how pretty she thought I looked that day.  She passed away that very night.  
I want to personally thank everyone who came to the viewing and the funeral, those who sent us flowers, fruit and cookies, and those who sent their love and condolences.  It is incredibly meaningful and emotionally helpful.  But to truly honor Doina, everyone needs to take care of the women in their lives.  Tell them you love them, cherish them and encourage them to take care of their health.  
I will miss my mom and I am sorry we did not have more time together.  She was excited to see her grandson start kindergarten.  Every day will be cherished because now I understand how incredibly valuable each day is. 
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  It has made this ordeal more bearable knowing how many people she affected.

Dear Matei Family,

I have known Doina since she first started at Adalet in the e-cell. She was always a very caring person and would always take the time to speak or help with anyone. She was a very hard worker and you could tell she took a lot of pride in her work. Family was very important to Doina. Not just hers, but she made us feel we were a part of that family. She has spoken to me many times how proud she was of her girls. I am sure they are just as proud of their Mother. I am blessed that I knew Doina Matei. She will be missed dearly.

Rest in peace Doina, you will be missed. Condolences to your family.

Having worked with Doina for a number of years at Pines Mfg., I enjoyed Doina so much and shared many, many laughs. How lucky we all are to know such a great person. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you.

My Dearest Doina, you were always there for me,  I always remember and tell others how you helped me before and after I had my daughter Athena in Austria. You had the gift that made me feel like I was part of your family. I always thought of you as my sister (asI don't have one). Even thou we live far apart, you always talked to me on the phone & made me feel better & laugh when I was down. Thank you for everything. I will never forget you. I feel a deep sadness, for the world lost the most beautiful person (inside & out). You were everybody's friend and everyone loved you.

We worked together in our 4 person work group at Adalet and it developed into a close knit family atmosphere. That being said, I feel a great loss with her not being among us and an emptyness when we lose a family member.
She has always been a joy to be around and could find a way to always be uplifting. Always friendly, always joyful, and above all, always caring about others. This has created a great sadness within me that is hard to express. God bless you Doina and your family. I feel richer for our experience together.

I have known Doina for a year and a half but I feel like I have known her all my life. My husband and I do not have much family in the area and she treated us as if we were her family. Bianca and I have come to become very good friends this past couple of years and Doina would always send delicious Romanian food our way. As much as she was an awesome cook, I know she was an even more awesome mother and friend to many. My family was so sad to hear the news of her passing. Doina will have a place in our hearts forever and will always be remembered. God bless her and your family.

To the family of Doina Matei,

I worked with Doina at Kirkwood Carbon Company for many years and was shocked and saddend to read that she had passed away.  She was great to work with and fun to be around. I know she loved her children and husband dearly as she always talked about them. She will be missed. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

We were not super close and we only saw each other once in a while, but I did get to know Doina as a wonderful person and she always treated me like family.  She will always have a special place in my heart.  I will always remember Doina for the way she said hi, and for her kind words.  
Doina was an awesome person.  I loved her personality.  I loved her like she was family.  I love you Doina Matei, and I will miss you.
