Robert Lee Stover

Robert Lee “Smokey” Stover, 82, of North Olmsted, passed away suddenly, September 20, 2014. Beloved husband for over 57 years of Ruth (nee: Amt). Loving father of Karen (Jeff deceased) Bettis, Robert "Bucky" (Lana), Janet (Ken) Kusmisz, Mark (Terry), and Michael. Caring grandfather of 13: Marissa, Sam, Nate, Jeremiah, Lauren, Buck, Zach, Bryanna, Danny, Katie, Mike, Kenny, and Krystina; great-grandfather of Deliliah, Jack, Juliana, and Sophie.

Bob was born in Alexandria, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ilah, and brother, Frank Jr. ”Bucky”. Bob graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne, IN in 1950 and Valparaiso University in 1954. He served 4 years in the United States Marine Corp before becoming a dedicated high school Coach, Athletic Director and Teacher. He taught at Lutheran West High School for 14 years and at Fairview High School for 22 years.

A dedicated man of faith, Bob's favorite motto was "Faith, Family, Friends and.....Football." In retirement, he loved watching his grandchildren play sports. Always a coach, he enjoyed critiquing NFL games on TV. Bob was also an avid golfer- or as he would always say, "I just hit the ball".

Family will receive friends Friday, September 26, from 3 to 6pm at the CATAVOLOS-BERRY FUNERAL HOME 23040 Center Ridge Rd. Westlake.

A memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday, September 27, at Bob’s longtime church; St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 21211 Detroit Rd. Rocky River. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.

In keeping with Bob's wishes, there will be a celebration of life immediately following services at Panini’s Bar and Grill 23800 Detroit Rd. Westlake until 4pm.

A private burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens will be held at a later date.
