

Brendan Appel passed away July 2, 2021. He was born January 19, 1947, to George and Ellen Appel in Queens, NY. Brendan spent most of his childhood in Arizona and New Mexico, moving with his family to Ventura, CA in 1963. He attended Villanova Prep School, St. Mary’s College and graduated from UCLA. Most of his working career was spent at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company as a Sales and Marketing manager.
He is survived by his wife Heather, brother Neal, brothers-in law Joe and Andrew Bacon, Sister-in-Law Christina Homan (Les), nephew Daniel Bacon and niece Nicole Bacon. He is pre-deceased by his parents and a brother, Chris.
Brendan loved all things sports and cars, classic rock, Hawaii, riffing in tandem with his brother Neal, the coffee room at Visions and Friday night dinners with his wife, Heather.
He was a Friend of Bill for the past 30 years of his life, generously devoting much time to helping others. He is remembered for his unique sense of humor and his kind and gentle spirit. He is well-loved and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
Brendan had many health challenges for much of his adult life which he bore with grace and a positive attitude. The family wishes to thank his health care providers, most especially Dr. Richard Lessman and Fresenius Kidney Care-Thousand Oaks. In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be held Saturday, July 17 at 11 am. at Los Robles Greens.
