

Carol M. Katz, age 75, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025, in Torrance, California. Born on April 20, 1950, in Johannesburg, South Africa, Carol lived a life full of love, laughter, and endless compassion. At the time of her passing, she resided in Torrance, CA.
A private funeral for close family members will be held at Pierce Brothers Mortuary in Westlake Village, CA, on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at noon. The family will host a celebration of life at a later date (TBD) where friends and extended loved ones can gather in her honor.
Carol was a loving, outgoing, and spunky woman who adored playing tennis—a passion that brought her joy and numerous achievements throughout her life. Recently, she had been enjoying various community classes and forging new friendships, a testament to her vibrant and friendly spirit.
She was an extraordinary cook, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, proud great-grandmother, beloved sister, and dear aunt. Carol's intelligence and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy in the tennis community and in her personal relationships is immeasurable.
Carol was the daughter of Dr. Max and Mrs. Charlotte Edith Chitters . She is lovingly remembered by her siblings Gerald Chitters (Meredith) and Lola Nunn (Roger); daughter Diza Vanyo; son Barry Katz (Sherri); grandchildren Lauren and Roxanne DiCamillo, Johnny DesCamillo (Sidnie), and Dylan Vanyo; and great-grandchildren AJ Ochoa, Jackson Ochoa and Autumn DesCamillo.
