She was preceded in death by her son, Tom Reed, and husband of 61 years, Harold Reed. She is survived by her son Wayne and five grandchildren, Steve, Lynda, Jason, Tara, and Brandon; and six great grandchildren, Miranda, Nathan, Maia, Damari, Elliott, and Evan; and one great-great grandchild, Silas.
Claire came from a large family originating from Worcester, Mass. As a young adult she relocated to Southern California, spending her life in Newbury Park. Claire had a long career in banking, working her way up to Assistant Vice President at Security Pacific National Bank from 1967 to 1989. Claire loved learning and education and furthered her education by graduating from UCLA SPNB Management Program in 1986. Claire loved traveling as well as watching local sporting events with her husband Harold. She also loved visiting with family and friends. Claire was extremely selfless, always thinking of others and devoting her time and energy to making others comfortable and happy. Not only did she tirelessly care for her disabled sister-in-law, Marilyn, and her late husband, Harold as his health declined, she also tirelessly helped neighbors in need as they aged, making sure they were fed and cared for. Claire was the epitome of the verse from the Bible at Matthew 22:39 “…You must love your neighbor as yourself.”
As she herself aged she never wanted to be a burden or disrupt anyone, and as such her favorite saying was “I just go with the flow.” She was loved by so many who knew her, and she will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the many that had a large part in her life as well as her end-of-life care: Gloria (care giver), Theresa (care giver), Home Care & Hospice - Usha and Onyx, and lifelong friends and neighbors, Gene & Carol Geer, Beverly, Hope, Valerie, and Leslie & Eunice.
