She went by her middle name LaVerne. She was born in the city of Dallas Texas on October 13, 1928. She was the eldest of 4 children; Sue Bruns, Ken Hill, Tuck Hill. She and her family move to East Texas during the depression of 1933 to her grandparents’ farm. She enjoyed being on the farm. When she was 14 years old, her father took a job and moved the family to California in 1942 during Pearl Harbor times.
November 9, 1945, she married her best friend’s brother, Harvey Glen Bushong. They were married for 58 years. They live in Northern California until 1959 when Glen’s job moved us to Los Angeles. Then in 1964 we move to Simi Valley. Glen opened a business. She helped run the business.
She was blessed with three daughters, Carol, Judith, and Margaret. She had 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
LaVerne was dedicated and passionate in her Christian faith. She spent many years studying the teachings of the bible. She read the bible three times. She loved teaching Sunday school to children for years and was involved in children Christmas pageants. She said “I am very thankful the Lord loved me and blessed me with a long and mostly happy life.”
She was deeply involved in the world affairs. She read the news and listen to the news every day on TV. She loved crossword puzzles and also scrabble and always won!
She taught her girls to have a great faith, great work ethics, and to care about others, and the love of food.
She and Micky Mouse were the same age and attended Disneyland free on their 50th birthday celebration
She volunteered in the kindergarten class at Parkview center school for many years. She was lucky to have her great grandchildren attend during her volunteer years. She adored working with the children and they loved her.
