Ed Delava, a radiant source of love and laughter, peacefully passed away on June 24, 2024, in Oxnard, California, at the age of 94, surrounded by his family. Born on August 21, 1929, in Chicago's Polish enclave, Ed relocated to Southern California in 1950 and embraced the West Coast as his forever home.
Ed was the cherished husband of Marilyn for a vibrant 60 years and the proud father of Kathy, Ed, Bob, and Susie. His greatest joy came from being a grandfather to Brittanie, Brad, Spencer, Amanda, Rebecca, Max, Nick, and Milo, and a great-grandfather to Sage, Gray, and Theo.
A veteran of the Korean War, Ed maintained a deep respect for his fellow servicemen throughout his life. For 40 years, he contributed his skills as a quality control engineer at Lockheed Martin. Post-retirement, he dedicated 15 spirited years volunteering with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, where he was honored multiple times as Volunteer of the Year.
Ed's enthusiasm for life was infectious. He found his happiest moments tinkering on home projects, sailing the seas on cruises with Marilyn and friends, and relishing time with his family. His quick wit, compassionate heart, and unwavering loyalty endeared him to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Services to celebrate Ed's life will be held on Monday, July 8th, at 10 AM at Pierce Brothers Westlake Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Wounded Warriors, a cause that held a special place in Ed's heart.
Ed Delava's laughter, love, and indomitable spirit will resonate forever in the hearts of those who were privileged to share in his joyous journey.
