

She graduated from George Washington High School in 1933. She had her 4 children and when the youngest was nearing high school she went back to school and graduated from UCLA in 1959 with a teaching degree.
She worked as a special education elementary school teacher for deaf and hard of hearing students at LAUSD for 20 years. When she retired, she moved to the Sunset Hills neighborhood of Thousand Oaks in 1980 to be close to her sons and daughter. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid gardener and talented pianist. She traveled extensively, including trips to Scandinavia, Russia, China, South America, Sub-Saharan Africa. Her favorite destination was Egypt because she got to see in person the monuments she had always taught her students about. She was also known for her handmade silkscreen Christmas cards and baked goods.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gustave R Schultz and Margaret A Height, Husband John A Ragan, her son John (Bill) W Ragan, daughters Kathleen A Asbeck, Patricia L Traxler, brother Roy W Schultz, granddaughter Kimberly E Traxler and great-grandson Nathaniel C Traxler.
She is survived by their son Robert (Bob) A Ragan, daughter-in-law Carolyn J Ragan, daughter-in-law Judith (Judy) Ragan, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mission Hospice Westlake Village and Sunshine Manor for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend her graveside service at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks on Saturday March 2nd at 10:00 am. Following will be the celebration of life at Robert (Bob) and Carolyn Ragan’s residence.
