Frances Elizabeth Fox (Reed) Andrews aka Fran, of Newbury Park and recently of Simi Valley, California, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023 at the age of 88 ½. Fran was born on August 23, 1934 in the town of Fancher, Shelby County, Clarksburg Township, Illinois. Fran was raised in Shelbyville, Illinois and graduated from Shelbyville High and then went to Sparks School of Business. Fran married Ronald Reed also from Shelbyville and they resided on campus at Milliken University in Decatur where she worked as a telephone operator until Ron joined the Marines in 1956. They then moved from Decatur to Quantico, Virginia, and then on to El Toro, California, back to Decatur and Blue Mound Illinois, then on to Tennessee and finally back to California in 1967 where she remained until her passing.
Fran married her second husband William Andrews in 1983.
Fran was very proud of her 25 year long career with State Farm starting as a typist and promoting to the executive offices Administrative Team in Claims Management, retiring in 2001.
Fran is preceded in death by her parents Genevieve “Jennie” Smith Fox and Joseph Clark Fox and her four bothers Everett, Robert, Roger, and Scott Fox.
Fran is survived by her children Toni Gadbois-Stivers (Wade) and Ronald Clark Reed II of Simi Valley, Elizabeth Coombes (Neil) of Palmdale, grandchildren Daniel Gadbois (Breanna) of Tennessee, Shawna Holbrook (Andy) of Palmdale, Tyler Coombes (Kayla) of Santa Clarita, great grandchildren Declan and Brinley Gadbois, Keegan, Brooklyn, and Payton Holbrook, and Cayde Coombes, stepsister Marilyn Fox Duckett (Gary) and stepbrother Raymond Fox (Marla) of Shelbyville, Bert Fox (Scott) of Decatur, as well as other extended family sister in-laws, nieces and nephews, and family by choice Virginia Witt and Gloria Dalton.
Fran was an avid basketball fan, often telling us “that’s my sport!” and cheering on all the teams and players from California. She remembered all the players’ stats and teams even after they were traded and she loved discussing them all (except for LeBron).
Fran’s heart was always with her family and we are fortunate that she still recognized us all and that she was able to spend some quality time with us all over the last few weeks. We will gather for a celebration of life at a later time ([email protected] or [email protected]).
