

John Franklin Petrick, Jr of Thousand Oaks, CA passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024 at the age of 75 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on December 25, 1948 in Chicago, IL. John moved to Reseda, CA in 1952 where he grew up.
John graduated with the winter class of 1967 from Reseda High School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from California State University, Northridge in 1971. He received his Master of Science Degree in Business Administration, Accounting from California State University, Northridge in 1975.
John began his professional career as a commissioned agent with the Internal Revenue Service. In 1979 he transitioned to the private sector working as a Certified Public Accountant for a Los Angeles based accounting firm. In 1988, along with his business partners, he started his own accounting firm, Caldwell, Becker, Dervin, Petrick & Co. He continued to work there until his retirement in 2019.
John had many passions in life. Over the years he enjoyed being active in racquetball, golf, bowling, cycling and swimming. He loved traveling the world with his wife by his side and together they reached all 7 continents. He also enjoyed coaching his children in youth sports. He was an avid Los Angeles Sports Fan and was passionate about the Dodgers, Rams, LAFC, Lakers and Kings. But what he enjoyed most was cheering on his children and grandchildren in their sports and activities.
In 2004, John was given the gift of life by receiving a kidney donated by his business partner and friend, Larry Becker. John was always so grateful to receive this second chance at life. Not one day went by in those 20 years that he was not grateful for this generous gift.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John Sr and Nonalea Petrick. Sister Kathleen Beard. Daughter Megan Petrick.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Petrick, his children, Erin Bell and Michael Petrick, his son-in-law Jeremy Bell, his daughter-in-law Katie Petrick, and his granddaughters Madeleine, Vivienne, Tessa and Elise.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and honor his memory. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 10:00 am at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park, Mortuary & Crematory (5600 Lindero Canyon Rd, Westlake Village, CA 91362) with a Celebration of Life and Reception at the Hyatt Regency Westlake (880 S Westlake Blvd, Westlake Village, CA 91361) immediately following.
In lieu of flowers and to honor his memory and legacy, please consider making a donation in his memory to Team SoCal for the Transplant Games of America. The Transplant Games were very special to him. John attended 6 World Transplant Games and 7 Transplant Games of America. He made lifelong friends and was inspired by so many people at the Games.
