John Peter Siracusa

Mom left us on March 3, 2024 and Dad was ready to join her on what would’ve been her 94th birthday. They were married for 72 years and shared a deep and abiding love. They were quite a pair and an inspiration to our whole family.

Dad was born on April 27, 1927 in Geneva, NY to Liborio and Sandina Siracusa. They, along with siblings Frances, Joseph, Robert and Peter predeceased him. He had many stories of his wild adventures as a young man growing up. He joined the Navy and served in WW2 for one year. He was honorably discharged and returned home to his family. While serving as an usher in a wedding, he met the love of his life, Janice Shetler, who was a bridesmaid. It was love at first sight and after an intense courtship they married on Feb.16, 1952 in Syracuse, NY. They became parents to daughter Lynn (Mike) Doty in 1954 and son John (Elizabeth) Siracusa in 1955. They relocated to SoCal in 1957, ending up in Thousand Oaks in 1959. They welcomed daughter Colleen (Brion) Howard in 1960.

Dad worked in the booming aerospace industry for 35 years, retiring as an engineer. He worked hard to

provide a wonderful California life for his family. He loved to keep active bowling, biking and was an avid

golfer, golfing well into his 90’s. Dad was very social and loved talking to people, even strangers standing

in line with him. He made friends easily and had many golfing buddies over the years. He spent a few years of his retirement working at Los Robles Greens, which he loved.

Dad loved spending time with his family, grandchildren Heather (Rob), Amber (Matt), Alisa, Nicholi

(Melissa), Joshua (Allison), Nate (Jenny ), and Harmony. Great-grandchildren Carson, Wesley, Calum,

Hazel, Ava, Ian, Maya, Kyle, Amanda, Kaleb, Cannon, Giovanni, Zachary and Adeline adored their Papa. He will be missed by us all.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 22, 2024 10:30am at St. Paschal Baylon Church, 155 E. Janss

Rd., Thousand Oaks, CA 91360. Burial immediately following at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd., Westlake Village, CA 91362. Luncheon reception from 12:30-5:00 at Los Roblesfrom 12:30-5:00 at Los Robles Greens, West Ballroom, 299 S. Moorpark Rd., Thousand Oaks, CA 91361
