

John attended local schools in Panama City, FL. After he graduated from Rosenwald High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. John moved to Saint Petersburg, FL where he met and united in holy matrimony to Minnie Crayton on August 14, 1966. Their union was blessed with one son, Juan Y. Patterson.
In 1970 they moved to Los Angeles, CA and lived as a loving family until is death. He joined Calvery Baptist Church in Pacoima, CA in 2003, and attended Simi Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Simi Valley, CA until he became disabled.
John began his career in the restaurant industry as a manager of various restaurants in St. Petersburg. After his move to Los Angeles, he worked is way up the ranks very quickly to the position of District Manager of Hamburger Hamlets, Inc. where one of his many duties was to launch Hamburger Hamlet restaurants in major markets such as Atlanta, Washington D.C., Las Vegas and others. John worked for Hamburger Hamlet for over 4 decades until he retired.
He enjoyed cooking, planning large parties/events, entertaining and sports. He especially loved basketball and football, and always dressed to impress for all occasions. John’s family and friends have fond memories of him as a hard working, happy-go-lucky, outgoing personality. He always expressed deep concern for his family, friends and co-workers. He had a big heart, and a sharing loving spirit, always reaching out to help. He dearly loved his wife Minnie and only son Juan who he was especially proud of.
Our Heavenly Father, Master of our destiny saw John getting tired and called him to eternal rest and peace on June 6, 2023. John was preceded in death by his parents Jessie Lee & Freddie Mae Patterson, brother Albert Patterson, and sister Mary Ann Patterson.
He leaves to forever cherish his memory: his loving, loyal wife Minnie Patterson, Simi Valley, CA
