

LaVerne, born in Ft. Worth, Texas on June 20th 1921, passed away early Saturday morning , January 2nd, 2010, the only child of Robert Lee Connor and Fairye Judice, they lived among and around the Oil fields where her father worked. She moved with her parents at the age of 8 to Los Angeles.At the age of 15 she met and married the love of her life, Matthew Kinney. Somewhat opposites; she being the daughter of a part-time bootlegger and an only child, and Matt the son of a minister, with 6 brothers and sisters. They settled in Santa Monica, California, where sons Bob and Ron were born and Matt worked for the Santa Monica Bus Lines as a mechanic by day and a Boxer at night.After living in Santa Monica and Venice, Matt and LaVerne bought their first home in Westchester in 1948 and raised their 2 sons. They moved to Camarillo in 1986 after LaVerne retired from Hughes Aircraft and later Matt retired from Northrop Aircraft, they moved to Camarillo to be near their family.Matt and LaVerne lost their first Grandson Robert in 1979 and Matt died in 1992. She then lost her oldest son Bob in 2001.She is survived by her son Ron & wife Barbara, Bob’s wife Barbara and Grand children - Shaun Kinney, Maureen Holm, Kathleen Moore, Rick Kinney, Jack Kinney, Jim Kinney, Jeri Brown, Nicholas Apap and Sheri Aparicio. LaVerne had 12 plus Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-great grandchild.LaVerne also leaves behind many friends & relatives who loved her dearly. The family would like to Thank Assisted Home Hospice and a special heartfelt Thank you to The Palms Assisted Living staff for their kindness, love and understanding to LaVerne.Services were held on Thursday January 7th 2010 at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev.
