Nancy Ann May was born on July 9, 1936, in Spring Valley, Illinois, to Paul and Mary Nachtnebel, and passed away on December 10, 2025. She often spoke fondly of her childhood and cherished the loving upbringing she shared with her parents, Paul and Mary, which shaped her values, strength, and devotion to family.
On October 19, 1956, Nancy married the love of her life, Richard K. May, with whom she shared many years of marriage and devotion. Richard was the son of Jen and John May. Together, Richard and Nancy had two daughters, Connie and Robin, whose lives were shaped by their guidance and unwavering support. She was a beloved sister to Shirley Delvallee, whose husband Gene preceded her in death, and a loving aunt to Denise, Darina, and Paul.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard K. May; her beloved daughter, Constance May-Bavis; and her son-in-law, Harry Bavis.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Oliver (husband Marc Oliver); her cherished granddaughters, Ashley Williamson (husband Josh Williamson) and Allison Coates (husband Michael Coates); and her adored great-grandsons: Liam, Oliver, Nolan, Weston, and Walker.
Nancy received her Master’s degree and dedicated her career to education, with a special passion for teaching reading, believing deeply in the power of literacy. In 1980, her family moved from Illinois to California, where she continued to build a life rooted in family, community, and care.
She loved playing tennis at Westshore and North Ranch Country Club and took great pride in her home, which reflected her attention to detail and pride of ownership. She spent countless hours lovingly tending to her yard.
Nancy will be remembered for her loving heart, devotion to family, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. Above all, her smile will be remembered most—a reflection of her warmth, kindness, and the love she so freely gave. Deeply loved and profoundly missed, she will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
