On Feb 26th 2015, Maj. Richard Lundstrom (USAF/retired), loving husband of Vinetta Lundstrom, passed away at his home in Agoura Hills, CA. He is survived by his wife Vinetta (married 49 years), his daughter Kristina Haygood and her husband Andy, his son Eric Lundstrom and his wife Shay and their children Garrett and Brynn. He is also survived by his sister Mary Williams.
Dick retired from a distinguished career of 20 years in the United States Air Force in June 1982. His early career began as a B-52 Stratofortress navigator. He served during the Vietnam War and later became a key member to the research and development team for the B-52 upgrades that have kept that “Global Warrior” serving our country to this day. After retirement Dick continued his second career in the aviation industry working with companies such as Lear Siegler, Litton Industries, Northrop Grumman Corp., Demo Systems and Teledyne Controls.
In his early years of fatherhood, he was always involving his kids in many activities like scouting, music and sports. He believed that this would allow them the opportunities to have a better appreciation for life’s many lessons.
As a lover of many different sports, he never wavered when it came to allowing the kids to attempt different sports. Sports like snow skiing, water skiing, soccer, baseball, basketball, gymnastics, football and the family sport: bowling. He was a skilled bowler, having bowled two 300 games during his bowling career.
With today’s ease of technology, family and friends could always expect to hear from Dick before the big game of one of his favorite teams, including his alma mater, the North Dakota State University Bison.
His friendly and loving nature always found him striking up new friends everywhere he went. He will be missed by his family and many friends worldwide.
The family requests to honor Dick’s life, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of the following non-profit organizations: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, www.jdrf.org , American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org , ALS Association, www.alsa.org .
