I had no idea Sy had passed away. No one notified me and I feel so bad. I had such a wonderful friendship with Sy. His office used to be accross from mine. And when he needed to have drops put into his eyes, I would do that for him. At lunchtime we would go for our walks and have such fun talking on every subject. He had such a great personality. He educated me in so many ways. He was a wonderful family man. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He left quite a legacy. What a beautiful soul.  I miss you and love you Sy, Rest in Peace my dear friend.

Sy was one of the best volunteers for the Soaring Society of America in our first few outdoor exhibits (2006-2008) at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh WI. He gave of his time willingly and often, and charmed every visitor he encountered. His wealth of knowledge and experience truly enhanced the experience of all whose paths crossed his. He will surely be missed by all.
 

I met Sy is his TMAY class. That day, he shook my hand softly, and smiled mightily. I had just learned something from him, his positive energy was incredible. He was always positive and looked very young for his age. I think it must have been his smile, that same smile from his uniform photo, it made him look young. It was a powerful smile, and it is always going to be what I will remember Sy for. 

I was probably the lone youngest guy in the workshop. There I was, a millennial Asian boy who was just in the beginning stages of my career. But I could not have sensed any hints of bias from Sy. A seasoned veteran who had been through so much.  He treated everyone the same - with a warm genuine heart. He just wanted to truly help everyone to his best. 

It is truly tragic to hear this news! R.I.P. Sy, I'm going to miss him and his smile. 

What a presence and gift Seymour was to our OPEN workshops /meetings always sharing his insight honestly and freely. 

Blessings to your family Seymour and to all those he cared, loved and came in contact with you. 

I only knew Bob through his work with the Outstanding Professionals Employment Network but I can say he was generous with his time and expertise. He gave guidance to many who were  going through a difficult time in their lives. Bob was a special person - he will be missed. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I am a member of O.P.E.N in Oxnard.  Sy Horowitz was a beloved presenter for years.  His energy, even is his 90's was remarkable.  He was loved by everyone who met him and knew him.  I and many others at the Outstanding Professional Employment Network will miss him terribly.

My condolences to his beloved family.  I am sorry I did not know of his passing earlier.  I would certainly have gone to the memorial service.  

May God bless you Seymour, as we thank Him for letting us enjoy his company for 92 years.

Bob Minder

My wife, Kherna, grew up in Thousand Oaks and was a close friend of the Horowitz Family. The father, Seymour, became a "surrogate father" to her in many ways, often giving her advice about life, values, as well as love and hope in the younger years of her life. It was invaluable and comforting. 

Seymour was a Grand Gentleman in every regard. He was a man of Faith, and an example of reaching out and grabbing every challenge that came along. He was a family man, loving his wife Rose, his children, and extended family.

He did love a challenge, (as others have said), and was ready to solve any problem!

Not only is Seymour loved by his family, he is loved by us. He will be missed, but we have faith that we will all be reunited again.
