Almost 45 years ago, I met Hai Duc Pho and his wife Phuc (now Melissa) and three little daughters.  They came from the refugee camps to live in our home for several weeks.  Their children were similar in age to ours - Thuy (now Tina) was 7, Lan was 5 and Huong (now Sally) was an infant.  My Mark was 6 and daughter Jami was 4.  When we met, it was instant love - Hai was so caring and grateful.  We were so grateful to have them.  It always troubled him that I was doing "so much work" and he always offered to step in and do the housework, laundry, etc.  The sponsoring church found a job for Hai and even though it was hard and very cold for him, he did whatever he had to do.  Even though we didn't see one another very much because we had to move because my husband lost his job and the Pho family moved to Los Angeles, he and they were always had a special place in our hearts.  I will miss him and am grateful that our lives crossed paths.  Love to the whole family.  May God surround you with God's love.     Arlene Walters Waldorf
