My name is Melanie and I am a good friend of Tien Nguyen’s daughter, Uyen.  Uyen has been a great friend to me for over 7 years now and has treated me like family since day 1. We would go to lunch together at work, go out after work, spend time together on our days off and when we didn’t work together anymore our friendship continued. She invited into her home and immediately the family treated me as part of the family. Her mom would prepare delicious food and make sure that I eat and her dad, Tien, would walk around with a big smile. The first time I met him he said, “Hey man! Long time no see!” I was a little confused because I wasn’t sure if I had met him before, and Uyen laughed and said he has a type of humor, and no we never met before that day- but he likes to say that to people when they first meet. However, he actually said that every time we saw each other :). He was funny. He would say something super random and I would go along with it and we would both laugh. He was a humorous man and tho I didn’t really know him on a personal level, I can tell his spirit is full of life and laughter. He raised wonderful children including a beautiful daughter in which I am happy to call one of my closest friends. I hope the Nguyen’s find peace and will cherish the beautiful times they had with Tien. If the small interactions we had together impacted my life in such a positive way and brought me great sadness when I learned about his passing, I can’t even imagine what his loved ones are going through. I know he is very loved and will never be forgotten.

A letter to Tien,
What can I say...I love you man! 
What a hard working, broadly talented asset you were. You knew it too because at the end of your efforts on any given job it was customary for you to comment with “So beautiful, so beautiful!” And you were right my friend, you did beautiful things to my families properties for years. 
My wife and my two sons were lucky to know you too and though in recent years our paths crossed less frequently, you were in our conversations. We smile and chuckle whenever we talk of you and maybe utter one of your many “unique“ phrases. You touched us. 
I left you a message on your phone just days before I got the news, how sad that made me and my family. Rest assured though, smiles will be coming our way for years because of you. Thank you for that...and so much more. Rest In Peace my friend. I love you man!

I met Tien about 20 years ago in the Lumber yard I work at still.
We have been friends ever since. So funny and just a great guy.
You will be missed my friend!

I met Tien when he did some work for me because Scott Gerard had referred him.  He did an excellent job and was so skilled at so many things.  I saw him occasionally over the years and he always had such a fun sense of humor and made me giggle. I was saddened to hear that he had passed and  I am so sorry for your great loss.  Helen
