Edward John Smith

Edward J. Smith, 77, of Hillsdale, NJ, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, July 2, 2015. Born in Hoboken, NJ, Edward lived in North Bergen, NJ and Hillsdale, NJ. He spent most of his career at Red Star Express. He was a faithful parishioner of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church in Hillsdale, NJ.

Edward was predeceased by his parents Cecelia and John. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maryann (nee Caporino); his son Kenneth Smith and his wife Susan; his daughters Judith Farrell and her husband James and Tracey Sloane and her husband Bruce; his five grandchildren Bryan Smith, Brianna Smith, Kelly Farrell, Colleen Farrell and Samantha Sloane as well as his siblings Patricia McManus and Frank Smith.

The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Wednesday, July 8 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Edward's life and faith will be held at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Hillsdale, NJ on Thursday, July 9 at 10:15AM. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Edward’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
