Elena Rose Locantore

Elena Rose Locantore took her last breath on September 22, 2025. She was born July 12, 1951 to Mildred and James Locantore, of Hillsdale, NJ. She was the second of two daughters; Lillian being the older sibling. Elena was very studious and excelled in school. She attended Pascack Valley High School and the University of Maryland. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts. She resided in Baltimore for a few years after graduation before relocating back to Little Falls, New Jersey to be closer to family. In 1996 Elena purchased her first home in Haskell. She enjoyed the small town atmosphere and lifestyle the area offered. In 2013, Elena decided to move to Bastrop, Texas to be near her sister. Bastrop reminded her of Haskell’s small town charm. Elena worked for 25 years in the Human Resources field before retiring in November of 2024. Prior to her Human Resource work, she worked for Mutual of New York as a Senior Contract Analyst.

When Elena was not working, she enjoyed walks, reading and watching old Westerns. She loved the Western lifestyle and desert landscapes as well as the vintage culture from her youth. Some of her favorites include the movie Casablanca, TV shows Gunsmoke, The Rifleman and The Virginian and the character Betty Boop.

Elena joins the stars above and lives on in our hearts and memories. She leaves behind her beloved sister, Lillian (Jerry); niece Danielle Early (Edward); nephew Gerard DeBlois (Anna), her great nieces Olive Early and Juliana DeBlois and her great nephews Charles Early and Aidan DeBlois; her godson Corey Scavo; and her significant other Russ, as well as many other friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and James Locantore.

A funeral mass will be celebrated October 27 at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Hillsdale, NJ. Burial to follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ at 1:00pm.
