Giovanni Carlo Tonelli (John C.), born April 19, 1932 in Reusa, Italy went peacefully to his eternal rest on February 8, 2025 in his Montvale home surrounded by his family. He is predeceased by his parents Quinto and Adele Tonelli and brothers George, Al and Robert.
John immigrated to America in 1950 where he was quickly inducted into the US Army. He served his country proudly for 18 months in Korea in the 514th Trans Truck Company. John worked as a home builder in northern New Jersey for over 60 years.
John is survived by his wife Francesca, his daughter Anna Brodley (nee Tonelli) and her husband Ken, his son Robert Tonelli and his wife Deidre, his son Richard Tonelli and his wife Elese. John was adored by his 7 grandchildren, Taryn, John, Robert, Matthew, Julia, Laura and Michael.
His activities and hobbies, too numerous to list, all were pursued with a passion for life and living. His greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He was a kind and generous man and a great friend who was quick to offer help to anyone in need. He will be missed be all who knew him.
The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Thursday, February 13, from 2-4 and 6-8PM. A funeral Mass celebrating John's life and faith will be held on Friday, February 14 at the RC church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, NJ at 10:00 AM and entombment at Ascension Cemetery.
