Larry was born August 30th, 1938 in Manhattan NY, to Bernard and Edna
McGee along with his brothers Bernie, Dan, Tom, Edna, Pat , Bill and
Jack. Larry is survived by wife Eleanore Wahmann McGee, his sons Larry,
Greg, Timmy and Chris and his daughters Alice and Beth. He will be
dearly missed by his adoring 18 grandchildren.
He met Eleanore the love of his life during his high school years in
Throggs, Neck, New York while playing professional soccer for the New
York Sports Club. After they married they moved their 6 children to
Pearl River. Larry served his country in the Armed Forces from
1959-1961 in Seoul, Korea. Upon arriving home he then worked in
construction until 1966 when he joined the New York City Police
Department. He retired in 1979 at the rank of Sergeant. Larry
continued his career as a Sr Vice President in Property Management for
Bankers Trust until 2000.
Following his final retirement he spent enormous amounts of time with
his grandchildren around his hometown of Pearl River and numerous hockey
rinks along the east coast. If not with his family, he could be seen
fitting in a few rounds of golf at Blue Hill Golf Course. This quote
from Shakespear, is how he will remembered by his family and friends,
"His life was gentle, and the elements so mixed in him that Nature might
stand up and say to all the world, This was a man."
In leu of flowers the family requests donations to United Hospice of
Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956 in remembrance of Larry
