Marita Heitmann

Marita O'Leary-Heitmann, 69 of Riverdale, NJ, passed away on Wednesday November 9, 2022. Marita was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late Francis and Eleanor (nee Londregan) O’Leary. She was raised in Cliffside Park, NJ and attended Saint Cecilia High School in Englewood, NJ. Marita married her high school sweetheart James Heitmann, and together they welcomed and raised two sons, Michael and Matthew, in Westwood, NJ. Marita was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and was proud of the beautiful home and family she built with her soulmate, James. She had a close bond with both of her sons and in the last few years was proud to welcome five grandchildren who loved their “Grandma Mia.” Marita was an amazing cook and hostess, and loved to get the family together to celebrate any occasion.

Beloved wife and best friend of the late James Heitmann. Devoted mother of Michael and his wife Annie, and Matthew and his wife Dana. Proud grandmother of Ryan, Elle, James, Brayden and Jack. Cherished sister of Michael O’Leary and his wife MaryAnn, Mary Jane Yannuzzi and her husband Peter, and Maureen Bastardi and her husband Sal. Dear sister-in-law of William Heitmann and his wife Mary, and Robert Heitmann and his wife Susan. Loving aunt of Lauren, Michael Peter, Marley, Steven, Jennifer, Thomas, Will, Greg, Andrew, Patrick and Spencer. She is also survived by many dear cousins and friends.

The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ on Sunday November 13 2-4PM and 7-9PM. The family will gather with their relatives and friends for the Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church, Park Ridge, NJ on Monday November 14 at 12:30PM. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
